Dream Diaries #5 – Dream Meaning of Going Back To School

For today’s blog post I will be looking to share more of my dream experiences, and in relation to this I will be looking to answer this question – What Is The Dream Meaning of Going Back To School?
So, I had another one of these dreams recently, and this was a bit of a strange one ~ it was about a new system where everyone had to pay a fee at the start of the new school term.
The details I can’t exactly remember. I have recently been trying to get up a bit earlier around 6AM (around sunrise), and on this day I woke up about this time. I then went back to sleep and I continued dreaming about this.
Like I think I had a dream about the dream I just had (if this makes any sense) where I got drunk and caused a lot of trouble at my old school because of their new fees.
I also come to the conclusion that there was no legal requirement for me to be there at my old school because of my age. This was towards the end of the dream, and when I think about it this must have been close to a Lucid Dream. It wasn’t like your typical Lucid Dream but me realising I was too old to be at school was me becoming aware of my situation and I’m sure it wouldn’t have taken much to take control.
Like I think there seems to be quite a bit here for me to try understand. I think this was why I went back to sleep, to get back in the dream.
It’s weird but I have said this before in my other blogs that whilst I do believe that dreams are there to guide us with hidden messages – at the same time I think they are a tool that runs a kind of restoration simulation to trick people into going back to sleep. Where it’s like if your body needs sleep then the mind will use dreams to trick us into sleeping.
Perhaps this was a bit of both but anyway What Is the Dream Meaning of Going Back To School?
I think this seems to be a common theme for a lot of people and it’s an interesting dream study to explore – so let’s take a look at this…
What Is The Dream Meaning of Going Back To School?

Straight away without using ChatGPT, or opening one of my dream meanings books I know what this can mean. The main thing is that the dreamer has unfinished business academically. You could have an unresolved desire to go back to school (college/university etc.) I’ve certainly felt this myself as I didn’t leave school on the best of terms.
These dreams can be about regret towards the circumstances how the time at school ended. I left my secondary school 6 months before I was supposed to, and I finished my education in another school. This I think maybe could have been one part of what my dream was about.
Although, I know these dreams can be symbolic for other things. The part about paying the fee – a part I remember was there was a loophole – if you turned up early you could get away with paying it. Maybe this was a general theme to do with something I am currently facing. Possibly about acting on something before its too late. However I think maybe it’s about something I’m taking too seriously that I really shouldn’t be worrying so much about. Who really knows?
Now, this is what I think BUT…
What Does ChatGPT Say About These Dreams

Dreaming of going back to school can have various interpretations depending on the context and feelings within the dream. Some very Interesting results here and I think I pretty much nailed it with my first and second ideas.
Here is what ChatGPT says;
- Learning and Growth: Returning to school in a dream often symbolizes a desire or need for learning, growth, or self-improvement. It can indicate that you are in a phase of your life where you are seeking knowledge or new skills.
- Unresolved Issues: This type of dream might reflect unresolved issues or unfinished business from your past, particularly from your school years. It may suggest that there are lessons you haven’t fully learned or situations you need to revisit and resolve.
- Self-Evaluation and Stress: Dreaming of school can also be related to self-evaluation and performance anxiety. It might indicate that you are feeling judged or tested in your waking life, and you might be experiencing stress or pressure to succeed.
- Nostalgia and Past Influences: Such dreams can be a reflection of nostalgia, bringing up memories of a time when life was different. It can suggest that you are looking back at your past to understand your present or that you are influenced by past experiences.
- Preparation for Future Challenges: Going back to school in a dream can also symbolize preparation for future challenges. It may indicate that you feel the need to prepare yourself better for upcoming events or responsibilities.
- Social Interactions: Dreams about school often highlight social dynamics and relationships. They can reflect current social concerns, feelings of acceptance or rejection, and your interactions with others in your daily life.
Interpreting dreams is highly personal, so the specific details and emotions you experienced in the dream are crucial for a more accurate interpretation.
So that is Interesting. Looking further it says in my book The Complete Book of Dreams and Dreaming that School is reprehensive of learning about who we really are. It says that some believe that our waking life is merely nothing more than a testing ground of what’s to come in the afterlife and is therefore itself like a school.
This gives me quite a bit to think about but moving on. Typically I like to share these dream diaries as a way to examine my recent dreams and to look at several of them at once.
I will continue with this next one.
What Is The Dream Meaning of Gate 29 at the Airport – Riadh/Salzburg/Vietnam

This was a dream I made sure to write down some notes for. I can’t remember much of it. Typically I don’t remember dreams unless I write whatever I haven’t forgotten down. I didn’t make a diary entry as such but I just wrote down these details.
I don’t know where Riadh come from. Literally only now just googled that this is a town in Tunisia lol. There is Riaydh also in Saudi Arabia I don’t know but strange that this place I hadn’t really thought much about was in my dream. It feels odd now that I’m writing this – so Salzburg I know is in Austria. I have been to Austria to Vienna and I loved it there so maybe that is the connection. I don’t know.
Vietnam again very random – I don’t know where this come from but I have a feeling my oldest brother is linked to this. I really don’t know and Gate 29 god knows but strange coincidence its the 29th of may as I’m writing this and it’s 21:29.
Anyway, again I will see what ChatGPT has to say here about this.
What ChatGPT has to say about This Dream Interpretation
Dreams involving specific details like “Gate 29 at the airport” and locations such as “Riadh,” “Salzburg,” and “Vietnam” can be rich with symbolic meaning.
*Annoyingly ChatGPT Interprets this dream as about Riadyh Saudi Arabia. This would probably be the last country I’d want to visit. My nephew had a stop over here and he was detained for NOT having a visa and was forced to pay a very expensive bribe to be let go. I would actually hate this if it happened to me. I mean maybe I would take this precaution actually but Saudi Arabia I don’t know maybe I’d go to say I’ve been there but it seems to me this dream was about Riadh in Tunisia and not Saudi Arabia.
SO what this dream could possibly mean…
General Symbolism:
- Transition and Change: Airports and gates often symbolize transitions, changes, or the beginning of a new journey. Dreaming about being at a specific gate can indicate that you are at a pivotal point in your life, ready to embark on a new phase or experience.
- Opportunities and Choices: The gate can represent a gateway to new opportunities. The specific number “29” might hold personal significance (like an important date) or could be broken down numerologically (2+9=11, and 1+1=2) to represent balance and partnership.
- Waiting and Anticipation: Being at a gate at an airport may also reflect feelings of waiting or anticipation in your waking life. It could suggest that you are in a period of preparation, waiting for the right moment to move forward with plans or decisions.
Perhaps this is my urge to travel again. You can read about my travels in my other blog teddybearstravels.com – I have been to about 30 odd International cities in the past 5 years so perhaps this is it. I want to get back out there again as soon as I can.
Location-Specific Symbolism:
- Riadh: If Riyadh (commonly spelled as Riadh) represents a place of personal significance, it could relate to cultural, professional, or personal aspects of your life. Riyadh, being the capital of Saudi Arabia, might symbolize authority, tradition, or significant life goals.
- Salzburg: Salzburg is known for its rich cultural heritage and association with music (Mozart’s birthplace). Dreaming of this place might symbolize creativity, cultural exploration, or a longing for artistic expression.
- Vietnam: Vietnam can represent adventure, resilience, or historical significance. It might also evoke themes of overcoming adversity, exploration, and understanding complex histories.
Combined Interpretation:
Dreaming about “Gate 29 at the airport” in connection with places like Riyadh, Salzburg, and Vietnam could indicate a multifaceted journey in your life involving different aspects such as authority and tradition (Riyadh), creativity and culture (Salzburg), and adventure and resilience (Vietnam). This dream might be suggesting that you are preparing to embark on a journey that will require you to balance these diverse elements.
Personal Reflection:
- Personal Significance: Reflect on any personal connections you have with these locations. Do you have memories, plans, or desires linked to these places?
- Current Life Context: Consider what transitions or decisions you are currently facing in your life. Are there areas where you feel you are waiting for the right moment to take action?
- Feelings in the Dream: Your emotions during the dream are key to understanding its message. Were you excited, anxious, calm, or confused? These feelings can provide clues about your subconscious thoughts and feelings about upcoming changes or opportunities.
The feelings in my dream I don’t know maybe I was rushing around trying not to miss my flight. Maybe this is something that will happen – kind of like a premonition where I will get de ja vu. We shall have to see here.
Interpreting dreams is a personal and introspective process, so it’s important to consider your unique experiences and feelings to derive the most meaningful insights.
Now, I haven’t really provided much of an answer for this dream in particular – maybe it will come later but on to my next dream.
This was a really strange one.
What Is The Dream Meaning of Cigarette Smoke and a Crowd of People In Water, Up A Mountain?

I made some notes but I can’t remember exactly much more except Cigarette smoke, mountains, people swimming in a kind of spa, somewhere local I never knew about and they seemed to be in an audience with someone talking. I don’t know if these were some kind of healing waters. Perhaps the Cigarette smoke represents poor health and this is why the people were in the healing waters.
It was very bizarre. I think it was in a part of my town I’ve never been. I get dreams like this sometimes about places right on my doorstep I never knew about. Like I know there is no way there would be anywhere like in my dreams on my doorstep but it is just that familiarity. I’m not really sure what this dream was about but some aspects I think are quite intriguing.
Asking ChatGPT here is what it says;
Answer From ChatGPT
Dreams can be complex and multi-layered, often combining symbols that have personal significance. Here’s a breakdown of the possible meanings behind the elements you described in your dream:
Cigarette Smoke:
- Habits and Addictions: Cigarette smoke often symbolizes habits, addictions, or unhealthy behaviours. It might reflect something in your waking life that you are aware is harmful but find difficult to let go of.
- Stress and Anxiety: Smoke can also indicate stress, anxiety, or something that is clouding your judgment. It might suggest that there are issues or emotions that need to be addressed.
- Obscuration and Mystery: Smoke can obscure things, indicating confusion or something that is not clear to you in your waking life.
Crowd of People in Water:
- Emotional State: Water in dreams often represents emotions. A crowd of people in water could symbolize shared emotional experiences, community feelings, or collective consciousness.
- Healing and Rejuvenation: If the water is associated with a spa, it may indicate healing, relaxation, and rejuvenation. This suggests that you are seeking or need a break to heal and refresh yourself.
- Social Dynamics: Being in a crowd can reflect your social interactions, feelings of belonging, or the pressure of societal expectations. It might also indicate that you are part of a larger group or community experience.
Specific Contexts in the Dream:
- Mountains: Mountains can symbolize obstacles, challenges, or high aspirations. They might indicate that you are facing significant challenges or that you have high goals you are striving to achieve.
- Local and Unfamiliar Place: Dreaming of a local place you didn’t know about can symbolize discovering new aspects of yourself or your environment. It might suggest that there are unexplored areas in your life or inner self.
- Audience with Someone Talking: This could signify that you are seeking guidance, wisdom, or knowledge from someone. It may also indicate that you feel you are being observed or judged by others, or that you are looking for a leader or someone to follow.
Combined Interpretation:
Your dream seems to be a rich tapestry of various themes:
- Health and Well-being: The presence of cigarette smoke and the healing waters of a spa suggest a tension between unhealthy habits and the need for healing and rejuvenation.
- Emotional and Social Dynamics: The crowd in the water indicates shared emotional experiences or social dynamics that are currently influencing you. You might be feeling the pressure of collective expectations or seeking emotional support from others.
- Challenges and Guidance: Mountains signify challenges or goals, while the figure addressing the audience could represent a need for guidance or leadership in navigating these challenges.
Personal Reflection:
- Consider Your Health: Are there habits or stressors in your life that are impacting your well-being? Reflect on ways you can introduce more healing practices or relaxation into your routine.
- Emotional and Social Context: Think about your current social environment and emotional state. Are you feeling overwhelmed by collective expectations, or are you seeking support and connection with others?
- Seek Guidance: Identify if there is someone in your life who can offer the wisdom or support you need, or if you need to take on a leadership role yourself.
Familiarity:
The familiarity of the dream suggests that these themes are recurrent or significant in your waking life. Reflect on past experiences or current situations that resonate with these symbols to gain deeper insight.
Dream Meaning of a Baby Sister Covered In Ants
This last dream I can’t really remember and I’m not sure I want to. To be truthful this blog post has been sitting here for a year (or 2) with no updates. Perhaps this was to do with some demons I was facing at the time. Or it could have been a nightmare. If you read from the beginning you will see where I write about that I think certain dreams are to keep us asleep whilst our body repairs itself – well, contrary to this I believe that sometimes we have nightmares as our body’s way of waking us up. It is scary to think about but it would appear sometimes sleeping can be unhealthy.
I’ve had a few dreams (nightmares) like this where something horrific has happened and I’ve woken up not wanting to go back to sleep. So, I certainly believe in dreams being symbolic but I also believe that they run as a kind of computer program that functions to help the body restore itself or wake us up in other cases. I don’t know what this really strange dream was about. Since I started this blog post (I think) my sister has had a baby. I’m not sure if this is to do with her or not. It could be to do with me but anyway.
Nonetheless, here is what ChatGPT has said what this could mean.
Dreaming of a baby sister covered in ants can be a deeply unsettling image, often triggering feelings of helplessness, vulnerability, or anxiety. In dream interpretation, babies typically symbolize innocence, new beginnings, or aspects of yourself that are still developing emotionally.
A baby sister specifically may represent your own inner child or your relationship with nurturing and family responsibilities.
Ants, on the other hand, are often symbolic of persistence, hard work, and collective energy—but when they appear in overwhelming numbers or invade a sensitive space like a baby’s body, they can point to feelings of irritation, intrusion, or emotional neglect.
Seeing a baby sister covered in ants may reflect subconscious fears that someone close to you—especially someone innocent or dependent—is being overwhelmed by minor but constant pressures in life.
This dream could suggest:
- You are feeling overburdened by small responsibilities that are starting to add up.
- There is a need to protect or attend to someone in your life who may be quietly suffering.
- You may be struggling with repressed guilt or concern over a situation from your past or childhood.
Ultimately, the emotional tone of the dream—whether fear, urgency, or apathy—can help uncover what your subconscious is trying to bring to light. Reflect on how you felt during the dream and what was happening in your waking life at the time to gain deeper insight.
In Conclusion
Some Interesting explorations in this blog post. It has felt like so long since I began writing this and it has meant that I haven’t really looked at any dream meanings since. I think that what you dream about from one year to the next will always have different reflections based on your current situation. The school dream I feel I’ve had so many times – even again recently.
It is definitely symbolic – it is perhaps NOT about finishing school and how this is a regret for me on a deep psychological level but maybe It could be representative of authority or something like that.
I like to think this blog post will give readers a better understanding of their own similar dreams but really it is all down to recognising the common themes and seeing how this information can be used to solve problems in your waking life.
I hope this has been a post you’ve enjoyed reading. I’m going to finish this blog here but I guess now it is done I can start Dream Journaling again and follow this up with something else. I was say goodbye for now but if you’d like to read more check out our other posts here<<
