Hi Friends, Welcome back to Meditation 24×7.com For today’s post, I wanted to discuss Deepak Chopra Weight Loss Meditation Techniques. Basically, I wanted to go over using Mediation for Weight Loss and a little bit about Self Hypnosis. The similarities between the two and using them to help lose weight.
Plus the other thing I wanted to discuss was the work of the man mentioned above Dr. Deepak Chopra.
Who is Deepak Chopra
Born in India in 1947 Deepak Chopra studied medicine before moving to the USA in the 1970s. He studied and completed residencies in both internal medicine and endocrinology before later becoming a licensed physician. Something that in 1980 got him the title of Chief of Staff at the New England Memorial Hospital (NEMH). Better known nowadays as the Boston Regional Medical Centre.
From here Chopra would go on to meet Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1985. Most famously known because of his Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement.
After meeting Yogi – Chopra’s next move was to resign from his position within the (NEMH) and to help establish the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre. A special place dedicated to the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health (MVAH). Which is largely a new spin on the Ancient Hindu healing techniques of traditional Ayurveda.
Deepak Chopra Oprah Winfrey
Chopra is maybe most well-known for appearing on the Oprah Winfrey show in 1993. It was because of this and discussing his books on live TV that he has built the audience that he has today. Since appearing on Oprah Deepak Chopra left his position within the TM movement to become executive director of Sharp Healthcare’s Centre for Mind-Body Medicine.

Opening of Chopra Centre for Well Being
In 1996 Deepak co-founded the Chopra Centre for Well-Being alongside neurologist David Simon. A place where private services are offered including classes, medical consultations, spa treatments, online Vedic counseling, and Ayurvedic products to promote balance and well-being. The basis of his work is that Ayurveda integrated with Quantum Mechanics can help train one’s mind into manifestation healing, or how Chopra puts it Quantum Healing.
Deepak Chopra Weight Loss Meditation Techniques
What Deepak Chopra suggests about weight loss is that in just 8 weeks Meditation can cause enough positive change in a subject’s brain to totally rewire the body’s circuitry. Helping to modify eating habits and other behaviors responsible for weight gain.
In particular of the many types of Mediation that Deepak Chopra recommends for losing weight is Mindfulness Meditation because this can be done whilst carrying out your daily activities.
For example, you can practice Mindfulness Meditation whilst sitting down and eating your dinner. This is done by solely concentrating on eating your food during a meal. Instead of let’s say talking or watching TV. It supposedly works by training your mind to closely examine the full flavor of the food, the way you eat plus how much you’re eating and why?
Weight Loss Hypnosis
So a way to think of it is like this. There are two different types of hunger – 1.) Physical Hunger and 2.) Emotional Hunger. Meditation can help as a method of stress relief helping to combat using food as a coping mechanism.
Also when people get stressed, steroids release that increase belly fat. It’s said that because the body interprets chronic stress as the famine that people tend to eat more as a result. What Dr. Chopra promotes is that Meditation counteracts this as a natural response.
A kind of Self Hypnosis, which is another thing I wanted to discuss briefly off the topic of Deepak Chopra. How Self-Hypnosis can help with Weight Loss.
So Self-Hypnosis could be described as a very similar concept to mindfulness meditation. Both occur within a hypnotic state of mind. Hypnosis being a conscious state where you can program your brain to make positive changes, but can hypnosis help with weight loss? Well, it can but really it’s the kind of same as meditation. It’s a practice of training your mind.
Many companies exist nowadays that offer this exact kind of service. In fact, I was even going to include an affiliate link to one of these courses but as of this time of writing, I am still awaiting approval for this program. Now back to the topic of Deepak Chopra, since his dramatic rise to fame in the 1990s and 2000s and from his first appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show to making the front cover of People’s Magazine the man that is known today for his game-changing approach to alternative medicine and healing has a net worth of around $80 Million USD.

Before writing this article today I had never honestly heard of Deepak Chopra. Perhaps maybe because I’m not from the USA and would have probably been more interested in Sesame Street than Oprah Winfrey at the time of Deepak Chopra’s life-changing interview in 1993.
Still, I think that it is clear to me that he is a very important figure in the Alternative Healing and Meditation sector. I definitely think I will maybe take a look at 1 or 2 of his books in the future. Especially the Quantum Healing one looks like a good read.
As for the weight loss meditation and self-hypnosis part of the article. If I must be honest I have some terrible eating habits. Maybe for myself, I should look at if this technique can be used to put on weight instead. It seems to me sound logic though to use Self-Hypnosis or Meditation for stress relief and that it could help with weight loss and maybe from my point of view weight gain.
